Pria Korea Selatan Ditangkap di Peru Usai Coba Selundupkan 320 Tarantula dan 110 Kelabang

SEAToday.com, Jakarta - Seorang pria asal Korea Selatan ditangkap polisi di Peru setelah mencoba menyelundupkan 320 tarantula, 110 kelabang, dan sembilan semut peluru yang diikatkan di tubuhnya.

Pria berusia 28 tahun ini diringkus di Bandara Internasional Jorge Chavez di Lima pada 8 November 2024 setelah petugas melihat area perutnya terlihat "besar", demikian pernyataan dari dinas kehutanan dan satwa liar nasional, SERFOR, yang diterbitkan pada 13 November 2024, dilansir CNN.

Saat penggeledahan, ditemukan ratusan serangga yang dikemas di dalam kantong ziplock yang diikatkan di perutnya, menurut pernyataan tersebut.

Polisi menahan pria yang melakukan perjalanan ke Korea Selatan melalui Prancis itu. Jaksa penuntut kejahatan lingkungan Peru telah membuka penyelidikan.

Serangga-serangga tersebut diperkirakan diambil dari wilayah Madre de Dios di Amazon Peru dan kini berada dalam perawatan pihak berwenang.

Tarantula adalah spesies yang terancam punah, demikian kata Walter Silva, spesialis satwa liar di SERFOR dalam pernyataan tersebut.

"Mereka semua diambil secara ilegal dan merupakan bagian dari perdagangan satwa liar ilegal yang bernilai jutaan dolar di seluruh dunia," kata Silva.

Peru bukan satu-satunya negara Amerika Selatan yang menghadapi masalah perdagangan satwa liar. Pada Desember 2021, pihak berwenang di Kolombia menyita setidaknya 232 tarantula, 67 kecoak, sembilan telur laba-laba, dan kalajengking dengan tujuh anaknya, yang disembunyikan di dalam koper di bandara El Dorado, Bogota.

Pada September 2024, para pejabat Kolombia menyita pengiriman hampir 3.500 sirip hiu menuju Hong Kong.
