SEAToday.com, Jakarta - Status gunung Ijen naik menjadi waspada membuat aktivitas pendakian ditutup sementara hingga waktu yang tidak ditentukan.

Para wisatawan yang hendak mendaki pun harus mengurungkan niatnya usai larangan ini dikeluarkan sejak Jumat (12/7) malam.

Hal ini disebabkan karena meningkatkan level status aktivitas gunung Ijen dari Level I normal menjadi Level II waspada. Penutupan ini dilakukan hingga batas waktu yang belum ditentukan.

Keputusan penutupan tersebut tertuang dalam surat edaran Kementerian Lingkungan Hidup dan Kehutanan, Direktorat Jenderal, Konservasi Sumber Daya Alam dan Ekosistem, Balai Besar Konservasi Sumber Daya Alam (BKSDA) Jawa Timur.

Penutupan pendakian itu merujuk pada surat bernomor SE.1289/K2/BIDTEK.1/KSA/7/2024 yang ditandatangani oleh Kepala Balai BKSDA, Nur Patria Kurniawan, pada Jumat 12 Juli 2024.

Kepala Pos Pengamatan Gunung Api (PPGA) Ijen, Suparjan mengatakan, peningkatan status ini berlaku sejak 12 Juli 2024 pukul 22.00 WIB. Rekomendasi ini didasarkan pada pengamatan dan analisis potensi ancaman bahaya terkini.

Agus Mulyadi, salah satu pengelola PT Ijen Traveller Indonesia mengungkapkan, di biro jasanya terdapat 17 wisatawan terpaksa menunda perjalanan mendaki Ijen. Meski demikian, menurutnya seluruh wisatawan memahami kondisi tersebut.

"Tamu yang sudah datang ke Banyuwangi rata-rata memaklumi. Karena ini faktor alam," ujar Agus.

Ia mengaku mendapatkan informasi penutupan pada Jumat malam.

"Saat ini Ijen ditutup, dibuka kembali sampai ada pemberitahuan. Karena ada gempa level 1, tapi untuk danau sendiri masih aman," pungkasnya.
