Ijen Crater Nature Park Implements Cashless Ticket Payments

SEAToday.com, Banyuwangi - The management of Ijen Natural Tourism Park has officially implemented cashless entrance ticket payments using the Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard (QRIS) application.
According to Dwi Putro Sugiarto, Head of the Conservation Section of BKSDA Region V Banyuwangi, the new payment system was introduced to simplify the ticket purchasing process for tourists visiting the Ijen Crater, which is located between the Banyuwangi and Bondowoso regencies.
“This cashless ticket payment system has been in effect since Friday (1/31), following a previous trial using QRIS,” Dwi Putro stated on Saturday in Banyuwangi, East Java.
He further explained that this initiative aligns with the ministry’s directive requiring all natural tourism destinations to adopt non-cash payments via QRIS to streamline transactions at ticket counters.
Aside from making payments more convenient, Dwi Putro noted that the system enhances transparency and boosts visitor confidence, as all transactions are recorded and directly deposited into the state treasury.
"Cashless payment for nature tourism tickets is now mandatory, and officers are no longer accepting cash," he emphasized.
Ijen Crater, famous for its blue fire phenomenon, remains a top attraction for both domestic and international tourists, especially during extended holiday periods.
Dwi Putro reported that during the Isra Mikraj and Lunar New Year 2025 holidays, approximately 3,600 tourists hiked to the summit of Mount Ijen to witness the crater’s breathtaking scenery.
"During the long Isra Mikraj and Chinese New Year holidays, visitor numbers reached the thousands, whereas on a typical weekend, the site welcomes around 600 tourists," he added.
