Indonesia Menempati Peringkat Pertama Negara dengan Gunung Berapi Aktif Terbanyak di Dunia
SEAToday.com, Jakarta - Indonesia, sebagai negara yang terletak di Cincin Api Pasifik, memiliki jumlah gunung berapi yang sangat banyak. Posisi geografis ini membuat Indonesia rawan gempa bumi, namun di sisi lain juga menjadikan tanahnya subur dan kaya akan keanekaragaman hayati.
Berdasarkan data terbaru dari Smithsonian Institution pada 6 Juni 2024, Amerika Serikat memimpin dengan jumlah gunung berapi terbanyak di dunia, yaitu 165 gunung. Diikuti oleh Jepang dengan 121 gunung, dan Indonesia berada di posisi ketiga dengan 116 gunung. Angka ini termasuk gunung api yang sudah tidak aktif.
Namun, jika yang dibahas adalah gunung berapi yang masih aktif hingga kini, Indonesia menempati posisi pertama.
