SEAToday.com, Jakarta-Hari Raya Waisak 2024 jatuh pada Kamis, 23 Mei 2024. Pada perayaan ini, Menteri Pariwisata dan Ekonomi Kreatif (Menparekraf) Sandiaga Uno mengekspektasi akan menarik 300 ribu kunjungan wisatawan ke kawasan Candi Borobudur, Jawa Tengah.
Menparekraf menjelaskan bahwa puncak perayaan Waisak tidak hanya bersifat krusial dan sakral bagi umat Buddha di Indonesia, namun juga menarik bagi wisatawan nusantara dan mancanegara.
"Kalau di Candi Borobudur kami mengekspektasi 300 ribu wisatawan selama long weekend ini," kata Sandiaga dalam "The Weekly Brief With Sandi Uno" secara daring, Senin, 20 Mei 2024.
Deputi Bidang Produk Wisata dan Penyelenggara Kegiatan (Events) Kemenparekraf/Baparekraf, Vinsensius Jemadu menambahkan puncak peringatan Waisak di kawasan Borobudur sendiri diyakini mampu memberikan pengalaman spiritual bagi para pengunjungnya. Selain itu, para wisatawan juga bisa menikmati kekayaan sejarah dan budaya yang ada di Borobudur dan sekitarnya.
"Saya yakin sekali itu dengan target 300 ribu (kunjungan) dan spending yang jauh lebih besar kita pasti akan mendapatkan (pergerakan ekonomi) ini. Kami sudah kembangkan "Borobudur Trail of Civilization" dengan 14 sub tema yang ada di sana antara lain terkait dengan kuliner, wellness, dan beberapa desa wisata yang ada di dalamnya nanti saya kira ini bisa diramu dalam suatu paket wisata yang bisa menambahkan value kepada wisatawan," kata Vinsensius.
Dalam kesempatan yang sama, Chief Marketing Officer InJourney, Maya Watono, menambahkan perayaan Waisak yang jatuh pada masa long weekend ini diyakini mampu menarik kedatangan wisatawan ke kawasan Borobudur. Maka, ada banyak persiapan yang telah pihaknya lakukan untuk menyambut perayaan ini.
"Kami juga mempersiapkan pelepasan 2.560 lampion pada detik Waisak ini bersamaan dengan tahun Waisak 2568 dan ekspektasinya ada doa bersama sekitar 8.000 umat Buddha yang akan berdoa bersama di Candi Borobudur dari atas sampai ke Marga utama Candi Borobudur," kata Maya.
