SEAToday.com, Jakarta-Former One Direction member Liam Payne passed away after falling from a hotel window in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Wednesday (10/16).

The singer, born Liam James Payne, passed away at 31. According to CNN, police statement said Payne passed at a hotel on Costa Rica Street in the Palermo neighborhood.

Buenos Aires Police said personnel from Police Station 14B went to the hotel on Wednesday afternoon after receiving a 911 call about an aggressive man who may have been under the influence of drugs or alcohol. The police statement did not identify the person as Liam Payne.

Before his death, Liam Payne’s life was quite the ride. Outside of his career in music, Payne had spoken up about his struggles to leave alcohol addiction in a YouTube video uploaded on July 9, 2023.

In the 8-minute video, the star, born on August 19, 1993, mentioned that he had been free from addiction for almost six months after spending almost 100 days in a rehabilitation facility in Louisiana.

“I feel like I’m more in control of life and anything that gets away from me, I feel like I’m more able to handle it,” Payne said.

He continued, “I just needed to take a little time for myself, because I was becoming someone I didn’t recognize anymore and I’m sure you feel the same way. I was in a bad way up until that point and I was happy to put my life and work on hold.”

During his time in rehab, Payne was completely cut off from the outside world, so that he could focus on his recovery.

“I didn’t have a cell phone for almost 100 days,” he says. “I wasn’t connected to the outside world at all. After coming out, the hardest part was turning my phone back on because it was a little scary.”

Although the process is said to be successful to some extent, the “Strip That Down” singer said there are still small things he has to deal with on his own. His desire to stop drinking alcohol started when he attended a Hans Zimmer concert in Dubai in January 2023.

“I'm watching this beautiful symphony, I'm drinking, and I'm thinking, ‘You know, this isn’t doing me any favors at all, I don’t really need it right now,” Payne said.

He continued, “It was the first time I put my drink down and said to someone else, ‘You finish this (alcoholic drinks). I don’t need this right now and I haven’t had any since, which is almost six months, and I'm very happy.”

“It’s nice to be in this position. I definitely don’t need those things anymore. The party is over,” he explained.
