SEAToday.com, Jakarta - Taman Nasional Baluran, Situbondo, Jawa Timur kembali kedatangan anggota baru, yakni seekor anak banteng jantan. Suaka Satwa Banteng (SSB) Taman Nasional Baluran mengumumkan bahwa anak banteng tersebut lahir pada Jumat, 9 Agustus 2024 pukul 04.30 WIB.
Anak banteng ini lahir dari pasangan Dimas dan Tina, dua indukan yang didatangkan dari Taman Safari Indonesia II Prigen. Direktur Jenderal Konservasi Sumber Daya Alam dan Ekosistem (KSDAE) Satyawan Pudyatmoko mengatakan bahwa kelahiran anak banteng ini adalah kabar gembira sekaligus memberikan optimisme bagi konservasi spesies.
"Kita berharap populasi banteng di Taman Nasional Baluran berkembang dengan baik," katanya, dikutip dari siaran pers Kementerian Lingkungan Hidup dan Kehutanan.
Kepala Balai Taman Nasional Baluran, Johan Setiawan menjelaskan bahwa anak banteng lahir dalam kondisi sehat dengan berat badan 21,5 kilogram (kg), tinggi badan 64 cm, panjang badan 73 cm, dan lingkar dada 66 cm. Proses kelahiran berlangsung secara normal, dan tim perawat banteng memantau secara intensif untuk memastikan kesehatan dan perkembangan anak banteng tersebut.
Dengan kelahiran banteng jantan ini, maka jumlah banteng pada SSB tercatat sebanyak 8 ekor yang terdiri dari 3 ekor jantan dan 5 ekor betina.
"Ini merupakan momen yang sangat membahagiakan bagi kami. Kelahiran ini adalah bukti dari upaya keras kami dalam menjaga dan melestarikan spesies banteng yang terancam punah," kata Johan.
SSB juga sedang menanti kelahiran banteng dari betina Usi dengan pejantan Dimas yang diperkirakan akan lahir pada akhir bulan ini. Hingga saat ini, SSB telah melepasliarkan 5 ekor banteng yang terdiri dari 2 ekor jantan dan 3 ekor betina sebagai upaya untuk meningkatkan populasi banteng di alam dan variasi genetiknya.
