2023 FFI's Best Picture Woman from Rote Island to Hit Cinemas on February 22, 2024

SEAToday.com, Jakarta - Indonesian film "Women from Rote Island", winner of the 2023 Indonesian Film Festival Best Pictures, will be coming to Indonesian cinemas starting 22 February.

"Women from Rote Island" held its Gala Premier on Friday (2/16). The film by director Jeremias Nyangoen explores the challenges faced by women in the face of sexual violence,, telling the story of the struggle of an Indonesian Migrant Worker who returns to her hometown on Rote Island with severe trauma from the sexual violence she suffered at the hands of her employer in Malaysia. The film stars Irma Rihi, Linda Adoe, Van Jhoov and Willyam Wolfgang.

Producer Rizka Shakira also mentioned that apart from Indonesia, the film will be screened in six countries including Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei Darussalam. For those countries, the screening is scheduled to start after Eid al-Fitr. She also said that the film will participate in several international film festivals, one of which is in Sweden in March.
