SEAToday.com, Jakarta - Indonesia's Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy is exploring international collaboration to promote the development and adoption of Web3 technology, marked by its participation in the Hong Kong Web3 Festival 2025.
Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene Umar emphasized the significance of a global, unified approach:
“This meeting is a concrete step by the government to ensure a clear, safe, and protected ecosystem without hindering technological progress,” she said as quoted on Antara.
During a closed-door session with representatives of the Web3.0 Standardization Association (W3SA), Irene highlighted the need for standard alignment and regulatory harmonization to build a fair and secure Web3 industry in Asia.
“Indonesia positions itself as an active and leading government in formulating global regulations and rules of the game in this emerging industry,” Irene stated as quoted on Antara.
Her working visit from April 9–11 was accompanied by Dandy Yudha Feryawan, Director of Emerging Digital Technologies at the ministry. Dandy visited Hong Kong University of Science and Technology to discuss potential partnerships in digital talent development.
In a dialogue with Indonesian citizens in Hong Kong, Irene also noted the vital role of the Indonesian diaspora in fostering cross-border collaboration in the creative and tech sectors.
