2024 Thai Songkran Celebration to Extend Throughout April

SEAToday.com, Thailand - Thailand government committee plans to extend the Thai’s New Year celebration, the Songkran Festival to a month in April 2024, instead of the traditional three days, with the aim of solidifying the country's position as one of the world's top 10 travel destinations for festivals. The news was announced on the Facebook’s page of the National Soft Power Strategy Committee Chairman Paetongtarn Shinawatra on Friday (12/1).
Shinawatra said that the soft power plan for 2024 has started, with 12 subcommittees across 11 industries proposing budgets to boost the creative economy. One of which is making the Songkran to a world-class event, celebrated in all 77 provinces across the kingdom.
The Festival Industry Promotion Subcommittee Chairperson Chadatip Chutrakul said that the festival’s central location would be Ratchadamnoen Avenue in Bangkok for three days and three nights. A parade is scheduled to showcase the culture and tourist attractions, featuring representatives from each province.
