SEAToday.com, Jakarta - Barbie became the first fictional character to be named one of the world's most influential women by Forbes on Tuesday (12/5). Barbie occupies the 100th position on the list of "100 Most Powerful Women in the World in 2023," given annually to a figure who does not have a general description of power but still wields great influence.

Barbie's selection is unusual and could prove to be very controversial. In 2023, the power of Greta Gerwig's "Barbie" has evolved the character beyond a symbol of female to the necessity of fighting to recapture power that has been taken away.

The character, created by Ruth Handler, has also managed to rock social media metrics as a strong woman. Barbie has approximately 5 million total followers on TikTok and Instagram, and nearly 12 million subscribers on YouTube.
