Health Collaborative Center: 4 out of 10 Jabodetabek Residents Feel Lonely
SEAToday.com, Jakarta - The Health Collaborative Center (HCC) released the latest research on the level of loneliness among residents in Jabodetabek. This research has taken place since November 2023 with more than 1000 respondents, the majority of whom live in Jabodetabek.
Based on the study, 44 percent, or about 4 out of 10 Jabodetabek residents, experience moderate loneliness, which mostly occurs in migrants, those under 40 years old, unmarried or not married, and women.
The study also found four factors that cause loneliness, including often feeling incompatible with people around, feeling shy and insecure and feeling not close to others, not having the same hobbies and ideas as people around, and feeling friendless.
Previously, the World Health Organization (WHO) determined loneliness to be a global issue. In fact, the impact of loneliness is equivalent to smoking 15 cigarettes a day.
