SEAToday.com, Jakarta - PT Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI) has introduced Reverse Vending Machines (RVMs) that convert used plastic bottles into electronic wallet balances. These machines, located in various public facilities, accept plastic bottles and dispense points through an accompanying app.

Collected plastic bottles are then recycled into felt fabric, which small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) can use to produce upcycled products like pouches or goodie bags.

How to recycle plastic bottles at RVMs:

  1. Download and register the Plasticpay app. Ensure you are registered on the Plasticpay app.
  2. Collect and gather used PET plastic bottles.
  3. Find a nearby Plasticpay RVM.
  4. Insert bottles into the RVM. Ensure they are not crushed, contain no water, and are between 240-1,500 ml in size.
  5. The machine will automatically count the bottles. Click 'Redeem Points'.
  6. Click 'Scan QR Code' or 'Print QR Code' on the screen.
  7. Scan the QR code using the Plasticpay app and click 'Confirm Points'.
  8. Your points will be automatically added to your balance.

7 RVM locations in Jakarta:

  1. Kota Kasablanka Mall
  2. Sarinah
  3. The Breeze BSD
  4. Grand Indonesia
  5. Living World
  6. AEON Mall Jakarta Garden City
  7. Supermall Karawaci
