“Badarawuhi di Desa Penari” Becomes First Southeast Asian Film Labeled 'Filmed for IMAX'

SEAToday.com, Jakarta - The horror sequel “Badarawuhi di Desa Penari” is the first movie in Southeast Asia to use IMAX (Image Maximum) cameras. The movie, which will air on Eid, carries the latest innovation in the world of cinema by providing quality 9 times larger than a regular cinema where the standard screen is 22x16 meters.
The film is one of three other films in 2024 that received the label, the other three being "Dune: Part Two", "Venom 3" and "Joker: Folie a Deux". In terms of visuals, the images are sharper, textures are clearer, and small particles like light are more visible. The sound is also more sensitive, even at high frequencies.
MD Pictures producer Manoj Punjabi said the film was shot with an IMAX-certified camera, which is different from regular theatrical film. It is hoped that in the future, Indonesian cinema can match the quality of Hollywood films. (DHITA/ DKD)
