SEAToday.com, Jakarta - Spider-Man fans will have to wait a little longer as the release date for Spider-Man 4, starring Tom Holland, has been postponed.

According to a report by The Hollywood Reporter on Friday (2/21), Sony Pictures announced that the Marvel superhero film is now scheduled to hit theaters on July 31, 2026, a week later than its previous release date.

The film will be directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, known for helming Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. However, the official title for the project remains undisclosed.

The delay is likely to create some breathing room between Spider-Man 4 and The Odyssey, a film directed by Christopher Nolan that also stars Tom Holland. The Odyssey is set to premiere on July 17, 2026, featuring a star-studded cast, including Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong’o, Robert Pattinson, and Charlize Theron in an epic adaptation of Homer’s poem.

Alongside Spider-Man 4, Paramount’s animated film Paw Patrol 3 is also scheduled for release on July 31, 2026.

Tom Holland last appeared as Spider-Man in Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021), which was a massive success, grossing over $1.9 billion at the global box office. The film was directed by Jon Watts, who also helmed Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017) and Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019).

The script for Spider-Man 4 is written by Erik Sommers and Chris McKenna, the duo behind No Way Home.

Meanwhile, the latest film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Captain America: Brave New World, was recently released in theaters. Sony, which holds the film rights to Spider-Man, has maintained its partnership with Disney since 2015, allowing the character to remain part of the MCU.

Upcoming Marvel releases include Thunderbolts in May, followed by The Fantastic Four: First Steps, which is set to premiere on July 25, 2026. Next year, fans can also look forward to Avengers: Doomsday, which is rumored to feature Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom.

Outside the Marvel universe, Tom Holland is also set to star alongside Austin Butler in the crime film American Speed for Amazon MGM Studios.
