Al Jabbar Mosque, One of the Most Favorite Religious Tourism Destinations in Bandung

SEAToday.com, Bandung-Al Jabbar Mosque located in Gedebage district, Bandung, West Java is a popular religious tourist destination in West Java. This mosque was designed in 2015 and inaugurated in 2022.

The mosque is often called Masjid Terapung Gedebage or Gedebage Floating Mosque. The name was given because around this mosque is a large lake, which functions as a flood retention and water storage.

The name of "Al Jabbar" has philosophies, namely “Jabar” which stands for Jawa Barat or West Java, and “Aljabar” which is mathematics and is one of Asmaul Husna which means all-powerful and all-willing.

This mosque was built on 26 hectares area and has a capacity of 60 thousand worshipers as many as 33 thousand worshipers can be accommodated inside the mosque area. It also displays a strong identity through the door in the form of batik motifs and represents 27 cities and regencies in West Java.

Then, it also shows another characteristic of West Java is in lightning rod, it is designed to be a ball which is similar to Gedung Sate. This ball has five which symbolizes the five pillars of Islam.

This mosque has other facilities including Jembatan Nabi Musa or Prophet Musa Bridge which connects the plaza and the main courtyard of the mosque.

There is also a facility called Taman Tematik Nabi or Prophet Thematic Park which contains the diversity of plants in West Java. As well as retail and cafeteria to enjoy food and drink.

One of the visitors, Amelia Alawiah came all the way here to pray and rest, “It was my first time here. Besides being able to worship here, there is also a place to rest and the air is comfortable. I was also curious because this is one of the magnificent mosques in Bandung.”

In addition to being a worship place, this mosque is a center of Islamic education and religious tourism. People who come can visit the library which provides hundreds of books and Islamic literature for free.

Then, there is Galeri Rasulullah or Rasulullah Gallery which is an exhibition hall that presents a track record of the journey of Islam and tells the story of prophet Muhammad SAW, prophet Musa AS and Makkah, which are visualized digitally using 5-D virtual reality.
