SEAToday.com, Jakarta-1980s actress and politician Marissa Haque passed away at 61 on Wednesday (10/2) at 2 AM western Indonesian time, as confirmed by her daughter Isabella Fawzi.

"Innalillahi Wainnaillaihi Rojiun our beloved mother @marissahaque has passed away," Bella wrote in an Instagram story post, Wednesday (10/2).

"Please pray for my mother, guys, she was a good person," she continued while tagging her sister Chiki Fawzi and father Ikang Fawzi.

Meanwhile, Chiki Fawzi shared a picture of her holding Marissa Haque's hand, who seemed to be laying in a hospital bed.

"Mrs. Marissa, my mother, has passed away," Chiki wrote in an Instagram Story. "I love you so much, Mom!"

Marissa Haque was an 1980s actress and politician who was born in Balikpapan on October 15, 1962. She was the wife of singer Ikang Fawzi and the eldest daughter of the Haques, the sister of Soraya Haque and Shahnaz Haque.

Marissa and her two sisters were born to Allen Haque and Mieke Soeharijah binti Cakraningrat. Her father was of Pakistani and Dutch-French descent, while her mother was from Sumenep, Madura, East Java.

She married Ikang Fawzi on July 3, 1986. They first met on the set of "Tinggal Landas Buat Kekasih" (1984).

They had two children together, Isabella Muliawati Fawzi and Chikita Fawzi.

Marissa was in arts and entertainment, and also politics. Her career began when she performed at the "Swara Mahardika" led by Guruh Soekarnoputra.

In the 1980s, she starred in a few movies, such as "Kembang Semusim" which saw her debut, and "Cinta yang Berlabuh" (1989). Marissa was awarded with the "Best Supporting Actress" title at the Indonesian Film Festival in 1985 for "Tinggal Landas Buat Kekasih".

She started her political career by joining the Indonesian House of Representatives in 2004 from the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle for the West Jawa II area which included Bandung.

Marissa then joined the United Development Party and the National Mandate Party.

Marissa graduated from Trisakti University's Faculty of Law. She continued her master's study at the Atma Jaya Catholic University and Gajah Mada University. She received her doctorate degree in February 2012 from the IPB University.
