FIFA Taps Coldplay to Curate 2026 World Cup Final's First Halftime Show

SEAToday.com, Jakarta - Coldplay is working with FIFA to curate the first ever halftime show for the 2026 World Cup finals, which will be held in New Jersey.
Coldplay vocalist Chris Martin is working with FIFA to curate the first Super Bowl-style halftime show at the upcoming 2026 World Cup final.
The 2026 World Cup final will take place at MetLife Stadium, New Jersey which will be known as the New York New Jersey Stadium for the World Cup on July 19, 2026.
“It will be a historic moment for the FIFA World Cup and a showcase for the first ever half-time show at a FIFA World Cup final in New York, New Jersey, in collaboration with (advocacy organization) Global Citizen,” wrote FIFA President Gianni Infantino.
“It will be a historic moment for the FIFA World Cup and a show that befits the biggest sporting event in the world,” he continued.
However, he did not mention if Coldplay will be a performer, but Martin and Coldplay manager Phil Harvey will be involved in choosing the list of musicians who will perform.
“I would also like to thank Chris Martin and Phil Harvey of Coldplay, who will be working with us at FIFA to finalize the list of artists who will perform during the half-time show, as well as in Times Square,” Infantino wrote.
Infantino did not say if the show would require the halftime to be extended beyond the usual 15 minutes.
If looking at the Super Bowl Halftime Show, it usually lasts about 30 minutes, with musical performances for half the time and the rest filled with commercials and movie trailers.
Meanwhile, FIFA rules state that the performance should not exceed 15 minutes. Coldplay themselves have performed at the 2016 Super Bowl Halftime Show along with Bruno Mars and Beyonce.
