Senior Actor Ray Sahetapy Passed Away

SEAToday.com, Jakarta - Senior actor Ray Sahetapy passed away on Tuesday (4/1).

This news was announced by his son, Surya Sahetapy through a post on Instagram social media, @suryasahetapy.

“Goodbye, Dad! @raysahetapy. We always have memories with you ❤️” Surya wrote in his upload.

The actor, who died at the age of 68, passed away at Gatot Subroto Army Hospital, Jakarta.

Previously, Ray was known to have suffered a stroke in 2023 and was undergoing a recovery period.

The actor whose full name is Farence Raymon Sahetapy was born in Donggala, Central Sulawesi on January 1, 1957.

Throughout his career, Ray was known as an actor who often played charismatic roles so that he was nominated several times in the Indonesian Film Festival (FFI).

Ray started his career in the film industry by playing the role of Jaka in the movie “Gadis” in 1980.

 

In the international film industry, Ray also had the opportunity to play a role in the production of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) film Captain America: Civil War in 2016.

Although the scene he played as an auctioneer in Indonesia in the final film was not shown, the scene was then presented three years later in the Infinity Saga Collector's Edition which contains a summary of MCU films starting from Iron Man (2008), Spider Man: Far From Home (2019).

Meanwhile, in his married life, Ray was married with senior actress Dewi Yull in 1981, after the two starred in the movie “Gadis”.

The couple had four children, namely Gizca Puteri Agustina Sahetapy (1982-2010), Rama Putra Sahetapy, Surya Sahetapy and Muhammad Raya Sahetapy.

His marriage with Dewi Yull unfortunately ended in August 2004. Ray then married Sri Respatini Kusumastuti in October 2004.
