SEAToday.com, Jakarta - Have you got an idea for your next travelling destination with your family? If not, museums in several regions in Indonesia can be included in the list of interesting holiday spots as well as educational tours for children.

In addition to summarising the history of the past, some museums also offer interesting activities. What are they? Let's take a look at the full summary of fun museums for families below.

1. Museum Sumpah Pemuda

Museum Sumpah Pemuda presents a summary of the history of the Youth Pledge in 1928. The museum, commonly known as Muspada, is located in the Senen area of Central Jakarta and features excellent collections such as the W.R. Soepratman Violin. The dioramas on display commemorate the struggle to unite Indonesian youth.

2. Museum Batik Indonesia

Museum Batik Indonesia is a specialised museum located in Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII), East Jakarta. The museum was established as a follow-up to the designation of Indonesian Batik as a Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO on 2 October 2009.

Architecturally, the building plan of Museum Batik Indonesia resembles a folded cloth. The front of the museum building is decorated with several batik motifs, one of which is the Kawung motif.

The permanent exhibition rooms of 2. Museum Batik Indonesia are divided into seven, namely the Nusantara Batik History Room, Nusantara Batik Treasures Room, Batik Making Technique Room, Traditional Use of Batik Room, Batik Development Room, Fame Gallery and Conclusion Room.

3. Museum Kebangkitan Nasional

Museum Kebangkitan Nasional is a building built as a monument to the birth and development of national awareness and the emergence of the modern movement organisation Boedi Oetomo. Located in Senen, Central Jakarta, the museum presents experiences related to Indonesia's struggle for independence and the history of medical education in Indonesia.

4. Museum Benteng Vredeburg Yogyakarta

Located on Jalan Malioboro, Yogyakarta, this museum allows visitors to enjoy an in-depth exploration of Indonesian history while admiring the impressive Dutch colonial fortress building. The museum also displays a collection of artefacts, photographs and documentation depicting the Indonesian people's struggle for independence.

Museum Benteng Vredeburg Yogyakarta is a silent witness to many important events in Indonesian history, especially those related to the struggle for independence. The building is a former Dutch fort built in the 18th century and still stands strong today, located in the heart of Yogyakarta.

5. Museum Semedo

Museum Semedo, located in Semedo Village, Tegal Regency, Central Java, stores ancient fossils found in Semedo, which are estimated to be older than any fossils ever found in Indonesia. Research by palaeontologists, archaeologists, geologists and anthropologists shows that the Semedo Ancient Site provides factual data on the evolution of humans, their culture and environment since at least 1.5 million years ago. The findings of faunal fossils around the Semedo Hills illustrate the long span of life in Semedo.

6. Museum Song Terus

Museum Song Terus is a prehistoric museum located in Weru Hamlet, Wareng Village, Punung District, Pacitan Regency, East Java. Museum Song Terus is located in the Gunung Sewu Cultural Heritage Area.
