Tourism Ministry Expects Music Promoters to Optimize Preparation Following Dua Lipa Concert Cancellation
SEAToday.com, Jakarta-Dua Lipa canceled her concert in Jakarta just one day before its scheduled date. This prompted the Tourism Ministry to encourage music promoters in Indonesia to optimize preparations related to security facilities supporting concerts in the future.
Tourism Ministry’s Deputy for Tourism Products and Event Organizers (Events) Vincent Jemadu stated that the cancellation of the Dua Lipa concert in Jakarta must prompt all related parties to evaluate, as it was caused by security and logistical issues.
“Security and safety must be a top priority in every event organization, including concerts. This is in line with international standards and is also important to ensure the comfort of all parties involved, including the audience, artists, and workers in the performance sector,” Vincent said.
He explained that his office will coordinate intensively with stakeholders to further investigate the cause of this cancellation, as well as evaluate the security and safety standards that apply in the music performance industry in Indonesia.
“This step aims to prevent similar problems from recurring in the future,” he added.
Vincent said that his party will be committed to providing assistance in event organization, especially music events. This is carried out to develop a quality music concert ecosystem in the country.
This assistance aims to encourage the improvement of the quality of concert organization, facilities, and supporting infrastructure, to the readiness of human resources (HR) in improving the reputation of organizing international-scale performances.
