SEAToday.com, Jakarta - Have you noticed a significant change in Instagram's feed layout recently? The popular social media platform has officially updated its aspect ratios in 2025, introducing new dimensions that promise a more dynamic user experience.

These changes mark the beginning of a series of transformations as outlined by Instagram's head, Adam Mosseri. In a recent post on his personal Instagram account, Mosseri shared a roadmap detailing the exciting enhancements planned for the platform. Let’s dive into the key updates:

  • Taller Grid Format

The grid ratio has changed from 1:1 to 4:5, making it easier to showcase vertical content like photos and videos. This update aligns with users' preferences for immersive vertical posts.

  • Simpler Profile Design

Profiles now feature a streamlined look, with cleaner layouts for usernames, bios, and follower counts. This design enhances the new 4:5 grid format and improves overall aesthetics.

  • Customize Thumbnail

Instagram is introducing a built-in tool to customize thumbnails, allowing users to align their posts with the 4:5 grid without using third-party apps.

  • Highlights Tab in Grid

The ‘Highlights’ menu will move to the grid section as a fourth tab alongside Posts, Reels, and Tags. This change makes Highlights more accessible and prominent.

  • Edit Grid Feature

Instagram is finally adding an ‘Edit Grid’ feature, enabling users to rearrange their posts within the grid for a curated and personalized profile layout.

While these updates are exciting, Mosseri emphasized that they are still subject to change. Instagram’s commitment to innovation means that these features will continue to evolve based on user feedback and testing.
