Coldplay Releases Moon Music Vinyl Using Plastic Waste from Cisadane River
SEAToday.com, Jakarta - Coldplay (@coldplay) released vinyls of its tenth album “Moon Music” using plastic waste from Cisadane River in West Java, Friday (10/4). The album appears to light up when rays hit.
Coldplay singer Chris Martin revealed that each of the 140-gram vinyl was made from nine plastic bottles collected from the Klang River in Selangor, Malaysia, and the Cisadane River in West Java, Indonesia.
Coldplay also released a CD edition of “Moon Music”, made from 90 percent recycled plastic. This reduces carbon emissions by 78 percent compared to traditional CD manufacturing.
This was made possible by Coldplay’s previous investment in “The Ocean Cleanup” project. As part of the project, Coldplay sent the “Interceptor” ship to Malaysia, Indonesia, the Dominican Republic, Vietnam, Thailand, and the United States to collect plastic waste.
