Grammy Awards 2024 (Grammy.com)

SEAToday.com, Jakarta - The 67th Annual Grammy Awards, held at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on February 2, 2025, was a spectacular evening that celebrated musical excellence, resilience, and history.

Hosted by Trevor Noah for the fifth consecutive year, the ceremony showcased powerful performances, record-breaking wins, and heartfelt tributes, proving that music continues to be a unifying force even in challenging times.

Beyoncé Makes History with Landmark Wins

One of the most defining moments of the night was Beyoncé’s long-awaited victory in the Album of the Year category for Cowboy Carter, making her the first Black woman to win the award in the 21st century.

Earlier in the evening, Beyoncé also made history by becoming the first Black woman in 50 years to win a country music Grammy for her collaboration with Miley Cyrus on II Most Wanted.

Kendrick Lamar Dominates the Night

Kendrick Lamar emerged as the biggest winner of the evening, securing five awards, including Record of the Year and Song of the Year for Not Like Us

The Grammy-winning song, already a cultural phenomenon, solidified its place in history as the most awarded rap song in the ceremony’s history.

Rising Stars Shine Bright

Newcomers made their mark on the Grammy stage, proving that the future of music is in good hands. Doechii won Best Rap Album for Alligator Bites Never Heal, joining the ranks of Lauryn Hill and Cardi B as one of the few female rappers to achieve this honor.

Chappell Roan, crowned Best New Artist, captivated the audience not only with her performance of Pink Pony Club but also with her impassioned call for major labels to provide fair wages and healthcare to artists.

Meanwhile, Sabrina Carpenter’s jazzy, playful performance of Espresso and Please Please Please earned her the Best Pop Vocal award, marking a milestone in her career.

Unforgettable Performances and Tributes

The night was filled with performances that left a lasting impact. The opening tribute to Los Angeles, featuring Brittany Howard, Sheryl Crow, St. Vincent, and Brad Paisley, set an emotional tone as the industry rallied around a city recovering from devastation.

A show-stopping tribute to Quincy Jones, featuring Stevie Wonder, Herbie Hancock, and Janelle Monáe, honored the musical icon’s legacy. Shakira’s high-energy performance brought Latin music to the forefront, while Charli XCX closed out her brat era with a rave-inspired set.

A Celebration of Resilience and Community

Beyond the awards and performances, the 67th Grammys served as a platform for giving back. The event raised millions for wildfire relief efforts, with artists and major labels contributing to help those affected. Local businesses impacted by the fires were given free commercial airtime, reinforcing the music industry’s commitment to community support.

With a perfect blend of history-making wins, electrifying performances, and moments of heartfelt solidarity, the 67th Grammy Awards proved once again why it remains one of the most anticipated nights in music.
